Is my image's quality good enough?

If you have doubts about whether your photo is large enough to fit on the product, all you have to do is start customising the product and add this image to your design.

Depending on the size of the image, the personalisation area and the type of product, the editor will let you scale it up to the maximum possible size. For small products, almost any image will suffice in size. For large format products, it will be important to choose a large image. In case the image is smaller than the product, this message will appear: ‘The image has been resized to the largest possible size that the image quality allows.". If you get this message, and in the editor preview you see that the image does not take up as much space as you want, we recommend that you look for a larger image.

Therefore, if the image is of sufficient quality, the editor will let you enlarge the image a lot. If it is of poor quality, the editor will only let you zoom up to a certain size.

The larger the size of the original image, the higher the quality, because if the image is large and of good quality, it will use the maximum resolution range, and if it is of fairer quality, it will use the minimum resolution, which is sufficient for the product to look good and not pixelated.

In case your design is composed of many photos, the print resolution of your design will be set to the image with the lowest resolution of all the images in the composition.

It is understood that in addition to this factor, other factors that cannot be controlled by the editor, such as images that are not out of focus, not too dark, etc., are important for the product to look good.

Advice

When creating a personalised product with an image or photo that you have on your device, whether mobile, PC or tablet, we give you the following advice:

  • 📱 Image size doesn’t need to match the product exactly: the online editor lets you upload and freely adjust it (move, scale and fit) until you get the desired framing, with a real-time preview.
  • 📦 Maximum file size: 25 MB: the editor supports most image formats up to 25 MB. Most photos are smaller than this, so it’s usually not a concern. Recommended size depends on the product and personalization area.
  • 🔍 Use sharp, high-resolution images: photos from modern phones or digital cameras are typically suitable. Images downloaded from the web may be low-quality or compressed and are only recommended if you can confirm they have suitable dimensions and file weight.
  • 🌑 Don’t upload overly dark photos: low lighting can reduce detail and contrast in print. Avoid uploading photos that are too dark.
  • 💬❌ Avoid using images saved from WhatsApp or similar messaging apps: these apps compress files and reduce quality. Always upload the original file when possible.
  • 📐 Check bleed and margins in the editor: keep key elements away from edges to avoid unwanted cropping. More information here.
  • 🏞️ Use transparent PNG if your design contains transparency: other formats may replace the background with an unwanted solid fill. More information here.
  • 🔄 Use 360º personalization if the product supports multiple sides or areas: make sure you personalize all available zones. The editor will warn you before finishing if any zone has been left blank by mistake.
  • 🎨 Don’t apply excessive or very aggressive filters: strong effects may introduce noise or blur that becomes more visible in print than on screen.
